Admission rules for Sacred Heart Catholic Primary and Nursery School (Bushey)

This is a voluntary aided mixed-sex primary school.

RULE 1. Catholic children looked after (CLA) and Catholic children who have been adopted children (or made subject to residence orders or special guardianship orders) immediately following having been looked after.

RULE 2. Baptised Catholic children who have a baptised brother/sister attending Sacred Heart School at the time of admission, with a certificate of Catholic Practice.

RULE 3. Baptised Catholic children who are resident in the parish of Sacred Heart & St. John the Evangelist, with a certificate of Catholic Practice.

RULE 4. Other Baptised Catholic children, with a certificate of Catholic Practice.

RULE 5. Baptised Catholic children who have a baptised sibling attending Sacred Heart School at the time of admission.

RULE 6. Baptised Catholic children who do not fit criteria 1-5

RULE 7. Other children looked after and children who have been adopted or made subject to Residence orders or special guardianship orders) immediately following having been looked after.

RULE 8. Christians of other denominations with a brother/ sister attending Sacred Heart School at the time of admission.

RULE 9. Christians of other denominations whose parents or guardians wish them to have a Catholic education.

RULE 10. Non-Christians with a brother/sister attending Sacred Heart School at the time of admission.

RULE 11. Any other applicants.

Tiebreakers:

The governors will give top priority to an applicant within a category where evidence is provided from the appropriate authorities (for example a letter from a registered health professional such as a doctor or social worker), at the time of application, an exceptional social, medical, pastoral or other need of the child, which can most appropriately be met at this school.

Priorities within the individual categories will be determined by the geographical proximity of the applicant’s home to school as measured by Hertfordshire County Council.

The Governing Body will admit twins, triplets or other multiple applications from one family for the same year group, or armed forces personnel even if the statutory limit of 30 places is exceeded.
