Local MP 'clueless' about schools. Read about Mark Prisk's embarrassing gaffs...

Oh dear. Mark Prisk - the Conservative MP for Hertford and Stortford - clearly needs to go back to school. On his blog, he makes a few fundamental mistakes that make us question how clued up he really is about the issue of schools, which is so central for many parents.

On his website, he says that parents applying for secondary schools can apply in September, and then you'll be informed of your child's allocated school place in October. In fact, the end of October is the deadline for applications - and National Offer Day for secondary schools is 1 March. That's when parents find out which school they've been offered.

He also talks about three preferences. That's very out of date. Parents now have four preferences - and you will be at a disadvantage if you don't use every one of them.

He also has a broken link to Herts CC's site, urging you to take part in a school consultation that finished a long, long time ago.

So... Mr Prisk MP. It's onto the naughty step for you. And any time that you, or your constituents, need any advice on schools... just get in contact.
