Admission rules for Tewin Cowper C of E VA Primary School

This is a voluntary aided mixed-sex primary school.

Rule 1: Children Looked After (children in public care).

Rule 2: Children with a sibling at the school at the time of admission. Sibling refers to brother or sister, half brother or sister, adopted brother or sister, step brother or sister, or the child of the parent/carer’s partner, and in every case, the child should be living in the same family unit at the same address.

Rule 3: Children living within the village of Tewin (as defined on the map shown in the school’s prospectus).

Rule 4: Children of parents who regularly attend at St Peter’s Church, Tewin. This is defined as at least once a month for six consecutive months. Parents applying under this category must produce a letter of verification from the Priest in Charge.

Rule 5: Any other children.

Tiebreaker: In the event of over-subscription in any one of the above categories, places will be allocated in that category on the basis of geographical proximity, using the County Scheme for assessing this.

The Governors have a duty to give overriding priority to a child with a Statement of Educational Needs which names the school. The school follows Hertfordshire County Council’s policy on looked after children as explained in their literature and website. The Governors will offer a place to children with a statement of SEN, nominating Tewin Cowper Primary School.
