  3. Dame Alice Owen's School, Potters Bar (6.29 apps per place) - NON MOVER!

  4. Simon Balle School, Hertford (4.73 apps per place) - UP! No 8 last year.

  5. Queens' School, Bushey (4.52 apps per place) - UP! No 6 last year.

  6. The Hemel Hempstead School, H'Hempstead (4.48 apps per place) - UP! No 7 last year.

  7. Beaumont School, St Albans (4.38 apps per place) - DOWN! No 5 last year.

  8. Rickmansworth School, Rickmansworth (4.34 apps per place) - DOWN! No 4 last year.

  9. Broxbourne School, Broxbourne (4.22 apps per place) - NEW ENTRY!

  10. Watford Grammar School for Girls (4.19 apps per place) - NEW ENTRY!

These are Hertfordshire's hottest secondary schools, attracting more applicants than any others in the county in 2012. Top of the list is Hockerill Anglo European. The school had a total of 627 applications this year (for 68 day places). Parmiter's had a eye-popping 1425 applications (for 206 places). These schools have serious parent pulling power!

  6. (joint). Boxmoor Primary School, Hemel Hempstead (7.13 apps per place)

  7. Manland Primary School, Harpenden (7.07 apps per place)

  10. Mill Mead School, Hertford (6.22 apps per place)

These are the schools that parents really, really want. The following primary schools attracted more applicants per place than any of the others in Hertfordshire, for reception places starting in September 2011/ January 2012. The most desirable school in the county (yet again) is Maple in St Albans – congratulations!
