Admission rules for St Thomas of Canterbury Catholic Primary School

This is a voluntary aided mixed-sex primary school.

1. Catholic children looked after and Catholic children who have been adopted (or made subject to child arrangement orders or special guardianship orders) immediately after having been looked after.

2. Catholic children resident within the Parishes of Old Hall Green and Puckeridge or Buntingford with a Certificate of Catholic Practice and a sibling in the School at time of admission.

3. Catholic children resident outside the Parishes of Old Hall Green and Puckeridge or Buntingford with a Certificate of Catholic Practice and a sibling in the School at time of admission.

4. Catholic children resident within the Parishes of Old Hall Green and Puckeridge or Buntingford with a Certificate of Catholic Practice.

5. Catholic children resident outside the Parishes of Old Hall Green and Puckeridge or Buntingford with a Certificate of Catholic Practice.

6. Other Baptised Catholic Children.

7. Other children looked after and children who have been adopted (or made subject to child arrangement orders or special guardianship orders) immediately after having been looked after

8. Children of families who are members of other Christian faith backgrounds, with a sibling in the School at time of admission.

9. Children of families who are members of other Christian faith backgrounds.

10. Children of families who are members of other faith backgrounds , with a sibling in the School at time of admission.

11. Children of families who are members of other faith backgrounds.

12. All other children with a sibling in the School at time of admission.

13. Any other children.

For criteria 9 to 11 a letter from the minister/faith leader confirming membership of the faith community will be required.

Within each of the categories above the school will give preference to applicants who have been granted Pupil Premium.

The school will give priority to an application within a category where compelling written professional evidence e.g. from a social worker, doctor or priest, is provided at the time of application. Such children will be admitted where the evidence clearly demonstrates that the needs can only be met at St Thomas of Canterbury School.

If there are more applications received that fulfil the criteria in any of the sub-categories than there are places available, the school will offer places up to the admission number to those living nearest the school.
