Admission rules for St Alban & St Stephen Catholic Infant and Nursery School

This is a voluntary aided mixed-sex primary school. This is an infant school. It is linked to St Alban and St Stephen RC Junior School.

RULE 1. Catholic looked after children and Catholic children who have been adopted (or made subject to residence orders or special guardianship orders) immediately following having been looked after.

RULE 2. Baptised practising Catholic children who will have a sibling at the Infant School or Junior School at the time of admission.

RULE 3. Baptised practising Catholic children who are resident in the parish of St Alban & Stephen.

RULE 4. Other baptised practising Catholic children.

RULE 5. Other baptised Catholic children.

RULE 6. Other looked after children and children who have been adopted (or made subject to residence orders or special guardianship orders) immediately following having been looked after.

RULE 7. Children who have a sibling at the Infant school or Junior school, at the time of admission and whose parents wish them to have a Catholic education . First consideration will be given to those whose minister supplies a supporting letter.

RULE 8. Catechumens and members of other Eastern Christian Churches. First consideration will be given to those whose minister supplies a supporting letter.

RULE 9. Christian children resident within the parish of St Alban & Stephen, whose parents wish them to have Catholic education. First consideration will be given to those whose minister supplies a supporting letter.

RULE 10. Christian children living outside the parish of St Alban & Stephen whose parents wish them to have Catholic education. First consideration will be given to those whose minister supplies a supporting letter.

RULE 11. Children of other faiths living within the parish of St Alban & Stephen whose parents wish them to have a Catholic education. First consideration will be given to those whose minister supplies a supporting letter.

RULE 12. Any other children.

Tiebreakers: The Governing Body will give increased priority to an application within each category will be applied for the following reasons; twins and multiple births, the attendance of a sibling at the Infant or Nursery School or Junior school at the time of admission (this must be stated on the application form). Top priority to an application within a category where evidence is provided at the time of application of an exceptional social, medical or pastoral need of the child, which can be most appropriately met at this school.

The admission of pupils with a statement of Special Educational Needs is dealt with by a completely separate procedure. Under the Education Act 1996, the governors are obliged to admit any child with a Statement of Special Educational Needs where this school is named in the statement.
